Quintanar de la Orden celebrated its first paella cooking competition on Saturday, 24 October, an event that brought together twelve participating groups and dozens of residents for a day filled with community spirit, gastronomy, and enjoyment. The competition took place at the Antiguas Escuelas de Colón Parque, where cooking took centre stage.
The twelve groups showcased their culinary skills, demonstrating creativity, dedication, and a passion for gastronomy as they prepared their paellas. The event fostered a festive atmosphere, encouraging residents to enjoy, share, and spend quality time with friends, family, and neighbours.
This initiative highlighted the importance of cooking as a meeting point and a means to promote community engagement and participation. Alongside the culinary competition, the day featured music that enhanced the celebratory mood. Raffles were also organised, and prizes were awarded, adding an element of entertainment and excitement to the gathering, which offered attendees much more than just a culinary experience.
The event was attended by several members of the local council, who joined participants and residents in this fun and participatory initiative.
