More than 1,600 elderly individuals will have the opportunity to engage in health, social interaction, and rural tourism through the 'Senior and Healthy' programme. This initiative, organised by the Diputación de Cáceres, has a budget of €105,000 and combines thermal circuits, cultural activities, and social gatherings to promote health tourism and invigorate the rural economy.

The programme will reach approximately 1,620 seniors from 16 municipalities within the province, as well as four non-affiliated towns: Coria, Moraleja, Navalmoral de la Mata, and Malpartida de Plasencia. The tourism councillor, Elisabeth Martín Declara, presented the new edition alongside Elisa Cruz, director of the Baños de Montemayor Spa.

Activities will take place at various spas including Baños de Montemayor, El Salugral (Hervás), Fuentes del Trampal (Montánchez), and Valle del Jerte (Valdastillas) during November and December. Martín Declara emphasised the programme's role in stimulating the economy and generating activity in rural municipalities, particularly in autumn, while supporting local spas.

“This is not just a health programme; it is also a golden opportunity to enjoy, share, and rediscover the landscapes and flavours of our province,”

she stated. The programme also aims to combat loneliness, foster connections between regions, and demonstrate that “well-being knows no age.”

The experience includes a 90-minute thermal circuit tailored to each participant's health needs, assessed prior to the activity. The day will also feature health and thermalism talks, workshops, cultural activities, visits, and a shared healthy meal.

Elisa Cruz praised the initiative as a significant promotional tool for thermal establishments and their surroundings. She highlighted the collaborative efforts with local municipalities to provide a personalised experience and a day of social interaction that consistently leaves participants satisfied, many of whom become regular visitors to the spas.

Martín Declara concluded by expressing gratitude for the involvement and cooperation of the province's municipalities and associations, responsible for managing transport requests from participants' home towns to the spas.
