The Ofra-Costa Sur district is set to celebrate a new edition of 'Ofra en Familia' on Saturday, 24 October. This festive day will transform Chimisay Park into a vibrant space for family fun and community engagement, catering to both young and old.
Following the success of last year's event, this year's initiative will focus on theatre and performing arts, themed 'Everyone to the Theatre!', with a diverse programme designed for families to enjoy a unique experience together.
José Manuel Bermúdez, the Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, emphasised the importance of such initiatives in bringing cultural and leisure activities closer to neighbourhoods, helping public spaces become venues for community interaction.
Santiago Díaz, the district councillor for Ofra-Costa Sur, stated, “We want families to come out, enjoy our parks, and share moments of fun. 'Ofra en Familia' is an opportunity for children and adults to spend a special day together, with activities for all ages without needing to leave the neighbourhood.”
The event will feature two theatrical performances: 'Detective de cuentos' at 12:00 and 'El rey solitario' at 18:00, bringing the magic of the performing arts to attendees. Additionally, children can enjoy bouncy castles, a games circuit, and workshops for making slime, fishing, and face painting, allowing them to play, experiment, and unleash their creativity.
A storytelling area and a 'bebeteca' (a space for babies and toddlers) will also be available, specifically designed for younger children, along with a relaxation zone offering food options for families to take a break and continue enjoying the event.
Díaz added, “With this new edition, we aim to demonstrate that culture and fun are also ways to build community. We are committed to activities that bring together different generations, promote coexistence, and make Ofra-Costa Sur an increasingly lively, participatory district close to its residents.”
'Ofra en Familia' will take place on Saturday, 24 October, at Chimisay Park from 11:00 to 19:00, featuring a programme that combines entertainment, theatre, and participatory activities throughout the day.
