Santa Cruz begins institutional visits to carnival groups

Santa Cruz has initiated its institutional visits to the groups and collectives participating in the carnival. The councillor for festivities, Javier Caraballero, accompanied by members of his team, has already visited the headquarters of several groups, including Caña Dulce, Burlonas, and Guachinquietas.

The carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is gearing up for its celebrations with the start of these traditional visits to the 109 participating groups. Over the past week, Caraballero has met with the first eight formations, with visits continuing into the evening. The initial round of visits featured the choreographic group Crazy Dancer, the murgas Guachipanduzy and Guachinquietas, as well as the musical group Caña Dulce, all of whom welcomed the councillor.

On the evening of the day before yesterday, the visits included the children's murga Castorcitos, Los Yuppies, La Sonora, and Burlonas. Caraballero was joined by Yeray Piñero, the director of the carnival competitions. The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, remarked that “these visits mark the return of the carnival spirit in every neighbourhood and rehearsal space, as it is a tradition that signifies the beginning of the work, enthusiasm, and effort of hundreds of people.”

Javier Caraballero expressed his excitement about visiting each of the venues once again, stating, “It is very encouraging to see what they are preparing, to feel the affection that the groups have for the festivities team, and to listen to everything they want to share with us.”

Yesterday, the visits continued with the Masa Coral Tinerfeña, Tras con Tras, and Marchilongas, marking a third day of engagements. The visits will proceed tomorrow with stops at Crew of Dreams, Bella Mariana, Jocicudas, and Diabólicas, further strengthening the ties between the City Council and the various carnival collectives.
