Hermandad ferroviaria unveils plans for holy week procession

The Catholic Brotherhood of the Virgin of Grace and Saint Joseph and the Brotherhood of the Prayer in the Garden have presented their new board of directors at their headquarters in Alcázar de San Juan, along with their objectives for the upcoming term and updates regarding their procession and images.

Key figures at the event included Julio García, the brotherhood's president, Ángel Luis Montalvo, the spiritual director, and board members Gonzalo Rodrigo and Javier Mata. Also present was councillor Gonzalo Redondo, representing the local council.

Julio García outlined the new goals, which include renewing the brotherhood to align with contemporary social and Christian realities, ensuring that young members play a significant role in all activities, and enhancing social and Christian engagement with the local community through quality social initiatives aimed at underprivileged groups.

Regarding the images, the importance of updating the procession for Holy Week was emphasised. Board member Gonzalo Rodrigo announced a major update: a new costal paso (a type of float carried by bearers) will debut in the Holy Thursday procession, accompanied by the Santa Cecilia band. This float belongs to the Brotherhood of Health and is currently being considered for departure from the Church of Santa Quiteria.

The Brotherhood currently has 80 members, with a primary aim of attracting younger participants. Rodrigo made a special appeal for new bearers, stating, "Our doors are open to anyone who wishes to join, especially young people."
