Eduardo Vázquez de Castro, a professor of civil law at the University of Cantabria (UC), participated in the international congress Falling in Law: il diritto oltre il diritto, held on 12 October at the historic University of Bologna. The event brought together prominent jurists and academics from various countries to explore the connections between law and culture.

One of the most original contributions came from Vázquez de Castro, who used a musical piece to draw a compelling parallel between the instruments of a composition and the elements of a constitutional democratic state governed by law. He illustrated how their distinct functions, within shared rules, contribute to the overall harmony.

The UC professor has been involved with Falling in Law since its inception. This international network, founded by Antonio Albanese from the University of Bologna, promotes an open, creative, and humanistic view of law, bringing together over 350 academics from 135 countries.

The congress also featured notable Italian judicial and institutional authorities and included Prenda posto, an innovative experiment on legal communication conducted during the session. The event concluded with a film session showcasing original short films, La scelta, addressing forced marriages, and Fortuna, focusing on legitimate self-defence, directed by Italian filmmaker Rigel Bellombra.

These initiatives reflect the Falling in Law movement's commitment to bridging the gap between law and society through dialogue with music, cinema, literature, and other artistic and cultural expressions.
