The winners of the 16th edition of the 'Móstoles en fiestas' photography awards have been announced, with Dana Ruth Delgado taking home the first prize of €1,000 for her photograph 'Barman'. The image captures the movement of people as blurred silhouettes against the stillness of architecture, reminiscent of the work of renowned photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Raúl Cano was awarded the second prize of €600 for his photograph 'Las manolas', which reflects tradition and devotion through the contrast of white mantillas and dark figures. The third prize, worth €400, went to Alejandro García for his nocturnal image 'Cuando todo se detiene', which showcases the vibrant explosion of fireworks illuminating the night sky.
Additionally, María José Sánchez received an Honourable Mention for her photograph 'Ven, vamos a disfrutar de las fiestas de Móstoles', which did not carry a monetary award.
The awards ceremony took place on 23 October at the Centro Cultural Villa de Móstoles, organised by the City Council's Department of Mobility, Transport, Consumption and Festivities. During the event, the Mayor expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions, stating that their images enrich the cultural heritage of Móstoles. He emphasised the city's commitment to fostering culture and artistic initiatives that highlight local talent and engage the community in photography.
Also present at the ceremony were Raquel Manjavacas, the Councillor for Mobility, Transport, Consumption and Festivities, and Cristina Molina, the Councillor for Education and Culture, along with participants and local residents. The winning photographs, along with other entries, will be on display at the Centro Cultural Villa de Móstoles until 15 November.
