Veterinary college donates sculpture to Alicante to mark 120 years of history

The Official College of Veterinarians of Alicante has donated a large sculpture to the city to commemorate its 120 years of history. The piece, created by artist Carlos Lorenzo, is made from bronze and steel, measuring 1.70 by 1.20 metres and weighing 4,000 kilograms. Once installed on a marble base, it will stand at 2.80 metres tall.

Titled "Somos uno" (We are one), the sculpture symbolises the interconnectedness of environmental, human, and animal health. Nayma Beldjilali, the city’s Councillor for Culture, expressed her appreciation for the donation, stating that it will serve as a reminder of the importance of the veterinarians' work in society.

The sculpture will be located on Avenida del Pintor Xavier Soler, with the donor covering the costs of installation and maintenance. The materials used in the artwork ensure its durability in outdoor conditions. Beldjilali added, "This work enriches the cultural heritage of Alicante and will be included in the city's inventory of monuments."
