The Santander City Council, alongside the Cantabria Chamber of Commerce, has initiated the seventh edition of the ‘Vale+’ campaign, aimed at supporting local residents with an investment of €500,000 and a total of 46,000 vouchers. This announcement was made during a press conference by Álvaro Lavín, the councillor for the initiative, and Miguel Ángel Cuerno, the vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce.
Citizens can obtain up to €100 in vouchers, which can be used for purchases at local shops. Each voucher, worth €10, is available for purchases exceeding €25, allowing consumers to pay only €15 when redeeming a voucher, effectively providing a 40% discount on their purchase.
Lavín highlighted that this campaign is part of a collaboration agreement between the City Council and the Chamber, approved by the Government Board, and aims to provide direct support to local merchants. The initiative is designed to stimulate the economy, encourage consumption within the city, and promote local businesses.
He noted that this measure is the most requested by local commerce, particularly during this period, and has been implemented at the request of the merchants themselves.
How the campaign works
Similar to the 2025 campaign, only residents registered in Santander can participate. The vouchers will be drawn in a notary's office to ensure fairness, allowing all interested parties to have access, unlike previous editions where they were available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residents and interested establishments can pre-register from today, Tuesday, at 11:00 until Friday, 16 October, at 14:00, through the platform www.santandervalemas.com. On Tuesday, 20 October, the Chamber of Commerce will send registered citizens their numbers for the voucher draw after verifying their details.
The voucher draw will take place on Wednesday, 21 October, in the Chamber of Commerce, and winners will be notified, with the list of winning numbers also published on the website.
The campaign is set to commence on Thursday, 22 October, at 12:00 and will run until Sunday, 22 November. The procedure is familiar and convenient for residents, ensuring that all beneficiaries are Santander locals who will be shopping in their city’s stores.
The programme will be managed in collaboration with the Cantabria Chamber of Commerce, which will reimburse participating establishments for the vouchers redeemed every two weeks.
