Quintanar de la Orden hosts charity wine tasting for ASPRODIQ

Quintanar de la Orden held a charity wine tasting event on 24 October to support ASPRODIQ, bringing together wine, literature, music, and art in a distinctive sensory experience. The gathering took place at the El Recreo hall and was attended by the Mayor, Pablo Nieto Toldos, along with local residents eager to participate in this cultural and charitable initiative.

The event featured four guided tastings led by Jesús and Julián from Garaje Wine, who introduced attendees to the characteristics of the wines and their production processes. Notable highlights included a focus on vineyard-specific wines and the revival of native and lesser-known grape varieties, particularly those from the Quintanar de la Orden area.

This initiative coincided with the celebration of Library Day, also on 24 October, aiming to engage the public with reading in an original manner by combining it with other artistic and sensory disciplines. During her speech, the director of the Municipal Library, Elena Novillo, emphasised the goal of creating an experience where books shared the spotlight with wine, painting, and music—four different forms of expression capable of evoking memories and emotions.

Jesús and Julián elaborated on their approach to wine tasting, highlighting the origins of the wines, the grape varieties used, and the production techniques. The event demonstrated that pairing can extend beyond gastronomy, finding new forms of expression in literature and music.

The evening uniquely blended gastronomy, music, and literature. Following the explanation of each wine's production process, a reader presented a passage from a book related to the vineyard and agriculture, forging a connection between the wine world and literature. The readings were delivered by Juliana Añover, María Luisa Añover, Vicenta Mingo, and Damián Novillo, allowing each wine to find its complement in words, bringing attendees closer to the stories, landscapes, and traditions tied to the land.

Live music was provided by Intimísimo, a duo featuring Esmeralda Fernández as the lead vocalist and Jesús Antonio Vela on piano and organ. Their acoustic performance, based on a repertoire of well-known songs infused with sensitivity, provided the soundtrack for the evening, accompanying the tastings and literary readings.

Through this activity, Quintanar de la Orden enjoyed an evening where culture, wine, and solidarity intertwined, supporting the work of ASPRODIQ and highlighting reading as an experience capable of connecting with other art forms.
