The Teatro Auditorio Don Quijote hosted the proclamation of Soledad Tendero Perulero as Dulcinea of the Fiesta de la Rosa del Azafrán and the opening speech by Carolina Palencia García. This celebration gathered municipal representatives, locals, and visitors around one of Consuegra's most emblematic traditions.
The transition between Dulcineas was one of the most emotional moments of the day. Soledad Tendero Perulero received the mantle from Rocío Gema Palomino Gallego, to whom the town hall expressed gratitude for her dedication, warmth, and the affection with which she represented Consuegra and the festival over the past year. The new Dulcinea now embarks on a journey to promote local traditions and participate in the events of this celebration.
Carolina Palencia García delivered the opening speech and played a central role in this edition's Manchegan exaltation. The town hall acknowledged her contribution to an evening where shared words and feelings towards the Rosa del Azafrán took centre stage. "The Rosa del Azafrán remains alive because there are people who nurture, teach, and share it. Thanks to Rocío for representing us with such affection, to Soledad for taking on this responsibility, and to Carolina for giving voice to a celebration that unites us as a community," stated Mayor María Luisa Rodríguez.
The event also welcomed Gilles Frémy, the mayor of Le Passage, and friends from the French town who are visiting Consuegra as part of a twinning initiative. Their participation allowed for the sharing of one of the town's most cherished celebrations and further strengthened the bonds of friendship between the two municipalities.
Presented by Julio César Valle Perulero, the event featured performances from the Traditional Dance Schools and the children's group of Coros y Danzas "Rosa del Azafrán" of Consuegra, highlighting the role of new generations in the continuity of local folklore. The town hall expressed gratitude to all those who make this festival possible: organisers, associations, participants, municipal staff, volunteers, as well as the families and the involvement of locals and visitors.
