Cátedra do Camiño de Santiago awarded Pentafinium prize 2026

The Cátedra do Camiño de Santiago e as Peregrinacións at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) has been honoured with the Pentafinium Prize 2026 in Mérida. The award acknowledges the chair's significant contributions to the scientific study of the history, heritage, and cultural impact of the Camino de Santiago, particularly through its collaboration with Turismo de Galicia.

Director Miguel Taín accepted the award during the International Congress of Jacobean Associations held over the weekend. The prize was especially granted for the organisation of the International Jacobean Lessons summer seminar, which will celebrate its twentieth anniversary next year.

The award recognises the efforts of the chair's directors, Professors Domingo Luis González Lopo and Miguel Taín Guzmán. The Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago (FEAACS), which presents the award, aims to promote and acknowledge initiatives that contribute to the care, promotion, and development of the Jacobean pilgrimage in line with its foundational principles.

This recognition falls under the category of 'A programme of action', highlighting the chair's commitment to enhancing the understanding and appreciation of the Camino de Santiago.
