The Castilla-La Mancha government has begun the distribution of €100 million in advances from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to the agricultural and livestock sector in Ciudad Real. This initiative aims to provide liquidity to over 23,500 farmers and ranchers, contributing to the economic stability and profitability of their operations.
Blanca Fernández, the regional delegate in Ciudad Real, highlighted the importance of this advance for a sector that is crucial to the provincial economy, which is currently facing challenges due to market uncertainties and rising costs of fuels, phytosanitary products, and other essential resources for agricultural and livestock activities.
“These payments represent an important liquidity boost for farmers and ranchers, who need this support more than ever to maintain their operations and ensure the viability of their businesses,”
Fernández stated. She also noted that the regional government has begun disbursing the aid from the first day it was available, which was on 16 October.
The initial payment for the CAP in 2026 amounts to €76.7 million, benefiting more than 23,500 recipients in the province. This sum includes basic income support for sustainability, redistributive payments, and aid aimed at encouraging young people to enter the agricultural sector. Additionally, €23.3 million corresponding to the advance of eco-schemes has been ordered for payment this week, reaching 17,242 beneficiaries.
Thus, the total amount advanced exceeds €100 million in this first tranche of the CAP for 2026. The provincial delegate stressed that these advances are a vital tool for facilitating economic planning within farms and addressing the costs of each campaign, while also helping to sustain the activity of a sector essential for employment, food production, and the development of rural areas in Ciudad Real.
