The town of Mijas is set to celebrate Halloween on 31 October with a series of themed events across its three main areas: Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas, and La Cala. The festivities will include parades, storytelling sessions, survival games, music, and a major haunted house attraction at Cortijo Don Elías.
Melisa Ceballos, the town's Youth Councillor, announced the events, which are designed to be family-friendly and suitable for all ages. A special 'Hour of Silence' will also be introduced for individuals with sensory sensitivities, scheduled from 16:00 to 17:00 in Mijas Pueblo, 17:00 to 18:00 in La Cala, and 18:00 to 19:00 in Las Lagunas.
In Mijas Pueblo, the theme will be 'Alice in Nightmareland', featuring a fantastical and mysterious atmosphere in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña. Las Lagunas will host 'Tales of Terror' at Cortijo Don Elías and the fairgrounds, while La Cala will present 'The Enchanted Night' in La Butibamba Park.
Each location will feature themed parades at 19:00 and 22:00, along with storytelling, magic acts, DJ performances, and survival games. The highlight of the day will be the traditional haunted house at Cortijo Don Elías, open from 17:00 to 23:00, offering an immersive experience filled with scares and surprises.
Ceballos encouraged residents and visitors to attend in costume and emphasised that all activities are free of charge.
