Sevilla TechPark celebrates 25 years with emphasis on business community's role

Álvaro Pimentel, the delegate for Cartuja, participated in the second meeting organised by Sevilla TechPark and the Círculo de Empresarios to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the business association. The event, held under the theme ‘The challenge of being more recognised’, saw Pimentel advocate for the continued promotion of the park's potential, which has become Spain's leading scientific hub.

“Sevilla TechPark is undoubtedly one of the best examples of the modern, innovative, and entrepreneurial Sevilla that we want to continue to promote,” he stated. Pimentel emphasised that “Sevilla is much more than its history, heritage, and culture; it is a city of talent, technology, and businesses competing in international markets.” He called for confidence in the industrial and innovative strength of the Andalusian capital, asserting, “Sevilla must believe in itself, recognise its strengths, and project them to the world.”

To achieve this global positioning, Pimentel insisted on the need for a strong alliance between administrations, the productive sector, and the media. “Our goal is for Sevilla not only to be a city admired for its past but also recognised for its present and the opportunities of its future,” he affirmed.

The potential of Sevilla TechPark is backed by statistics indicating that it houses over 600 companies, primarily technology-based, generating an aggregate turnover exceeding €6.1 billion annually. Pimentel highlighted that “the businesses located in Sevilla TechPark are essential for consolidating a new economic model in the city, based on research, innovation, and talent. Their strong innovative vocation positions this multisectoral ecosystem as a technological epicentre, attracting high-value investment to our Andalusian capital.”

He also noted the significant commitment made by these companies 25 years ago to the technological site, which has now strengthened Sevilla's leadership in international markets. “Thanks to their ongoing commitment, the park has established itself as a fundamental generator of economy and qualified employment, ensuring a highly competitive productive fabric with immense global future prospects,” Pimentel concluded.
