The mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, received a distinguished award from the Association of Businesswomen, Professionals and Directors of the Province of Alicante (AEPA) on Thursday, recognising the municipality's support and collaboration over the past 30 years.
The award presentation took place during a gala celebrating AEPA's thirtieth anniversary at Torre de Rejas. In his acceptance speech, Barcala emphasised AEPA's "great contribution" to enhancing female leadership, strengthening the business fabric of Alicante, promoting equal opportunities, and attracting talent over the last three decades.
He invited councillors from the Socialist group and Vox, who were present at the event, to join him on stage to receive this special recognition on behalf of the city council.
In addition to the City of Alicante, AEPA also honoured several other entities, including the Confederation of Businessmen of the Valencian Community (CEV), the universities of Alicante and Elche, the Provincial Council, the Generalitat Valenciana, Caja Rural Central, and Cristina de Arozamena, a high-performance coach associated with the business organisation.
