The Municipal Libraries of Reus, alongside the Centre de Lectura Library, have arranged a literary outing to Taradell and Vic on Saturday, 14 November. This event aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the death of poet clementina arderiu.
The activity is free, but prior registration is required. Participants will depart at 9 am from Parc Sant Jordi. The first stop will be in Taradell, where a literary route dedicated to clementina arderiu will take place. This route includes several stops at points of interest, providing historical notes about the village and featuring readings of 17 of the poet's works, contextualised within her life stages. Cinta González and Marta Ramírez have created this route with support from the Catalan Literary Institution.
The second stop will be in Vic, where the literary route 'Laura in the city of saints' will be held. This route is based on the novel by Miquel Llor, one of the most renowned literary works from the city, which had a significant social impact at the time. The journey includes 11 stops, following the main locations in the city where key events from the plot occur.
This annual outing is part of a collaborative agreement between the Municipal Libraries and the Centre de Lectura Library, with each edition linked to a significant anniversary. In 2026, the focus is on the 50th anniversary of clementina arderiu's death, while in 2025, an outing was held in Siurana to mark the Year of Ramon Amigó.
Clementina Arderiu Voltas (1889-1976) was a prominent Catalan poet. She was married to the influential poet Carles Riba, which has led to her work often being read in a limited context. Over the years, her poetry has been interpreted as merely expressing the joys of being a woman, wife, and mother. However, contemporary readings reveal a much more complex body of work, showcasing intense internal conflict and a unique voice that articulates the inner turmoil of sensitive and creative individuals.
