Madrid city council offers 2,250 places in municipal camps this Christmas

The City Council of Madrid will provide 2,250 places in municipal camps during the Christmas school holidays as part of its Plan for Promoting Birth Rates and Work-Life Balance. The camps will take place on 23, 28, 29, and 30 December, and 4, 5, 7, and 8 January.

The MadridCamp: Concilia en Vacaciones programme is aimed at children aged 3 to 12 and will be held in 21 public primary schools from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Additionally, the Special Open Centres programme will be hosted in three special education schools from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with early drop-off available from 8:00 am and adapted transport services.

Families can apply for places starting today, 27 October, until 3 November via the Municipal Activities Platform (PLACT). This initiative aims to foster the personal development of children through educational and recreational activities that encourage learning, enjoyment, and socialisation, while also assisting families in balancing their personal and professional lives.

Each year, the City Council runs three camp sessions: one in summer, offering over 40,000 places, another during Holy Week, and this one during the Christmas holidays.

MadridCamp: Concilia en Vacaciones

This Christmas, the City Council is offering 2,100 places in the MadridCamp: Concilia en Vacaciones programme, targeted at children aged 3 to 12 who are registered in Madrid and whose parents or legal guardians are working. The programme includes breakfast and lunch.

Each school reserves six places for children with special educational needs who are enrolled in mainstream schools and are not in special education settings.

Inclusive offer through Special Open Centres

The Special Open Centres will provide 150 places for individuals aged 3 to 21 with disabilities who are enrolled in specific special education centres. This programme prioritises the socialisation of children, meaning it is not mandatory for both parents to be working to apply for a place.

The camps will take place in three public special education schools in Madrid, operating from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with early drop-off from 8:00 am and adapted transport services starting at 9:00 am, with fixed stops. A meal service is also included.

Both the MadridCamp: Concilia en Vacaciones and the Special Open Centres programmes reserve places for children in emergency situations or at risk of social exclusion, referred by municipal social services. These places are exempt from fees.
