The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has highlighted the contribution of the Pávez Awards to the promotion of cinema and the visibility of short film professionals. This was stated by the spokesperson for the regional government, Esther Padilla, during her attendance at the XIII edition of the International Film Festival in Talavera de la Reina, where she congratulated the award recipients and thanked the cultural association ‘Trax Trex Trix’ for organising the event.
Padilla acknowledged the initiative that the association launched 13 years ago, which has helped establish Talavera as a reference point for the sector. She particularly praised the festival for providing “that boost and visibility” to all those involved in short films, from directors and actors to the technical teams that make each production possible.
During her remarks to the media, Padilla defended the importance of promoting cultural initiatives and ensuring that creations reach the public, stating that “culture is always positive for societies.” She also expressed concern that “in some other regions of this country, there are beginning to be instances of censorship or questioning whether certain works should be screened.” In this context, she reaffirmed the support of the García-Page government for the festival and expressed her hope that the initiative “continues for many more years.”
During the event, the spokesperson was accompanied by the Director General of Water, Montserrat Muro, and the regional delegate in Talavera de la Reina, David Gómez.
The Pávez Awards and the International Film Festival of Talavera de la Reina focus on promoting short films and recognising their professionals. The event combines film screenings with the presentation of awards that honour both artistic and technical achievements. The festival, which took place from 16 to 24 October, features sections dedicated to national, international, and local cinema, as well as animation and documentary, fostering interaction between creators and the audience.
