The Xunta de Galicia has launched the 'Club de escoita' at the Galician Centre for Contemporary Art (CGAC), an initiative where participants will create soundtracks for the artistic creations housed within this public institution. The project, which commenced on 19 October 2026, will run until the end of May 2027 and aims to enhance the CGAC's engagement with the community through cultural activities.
Under the guidance of Galician musician Santi Araújo, the initiative includes a monthly event at the Modus Vivendi pub, scheduled for the last Sunday of each month from October to May. During these sessions, participants will engage in a silent listening experience of a selected album, followed by a discussion focused on the emotions evoked rather than a musical analysis.
In addition to the pub activities, the CGAC will host complementary sessions on 19 October and 18 November 2026, as well as 22 February, 16 March, and 20 May 2027. These sessions will feature a selected artwork from current exhibitions or inspired by the architecture of Álvaro Siza, which will serve as the basis for a specially curated playlist for each occasion.
Each event, both at the CGAC and Modus Vivendi, will include a listening guide designed and produced by Santi Araújo. Participation in this free initiative requires interested individuals to register via the email addresses cgac.educacion@xunta.gal and pubmodusvivendi@gmail.com.
