The municipal libraries of Reus are set to participate in the international big draw festival from 3 to 7 November, providing a range of free workshops at the Xavier Amorós Library and the Pere Anguera Library.
The big draw, known as the Great Drawing Festival, promotes drawing and visual language as universal tools for learning, expression, and creativity. The initiative aims to make artistic practice accessible to all citizens, regardless of age or skill level.
This year's edition is themed "Leave a mark," around which a programme dedicated to playful experimentation and family engagement has been designed.
Workshop details
The programme will kick off on Tuesday, 3 November, at the Xavier Amorós Library, featuring activities led by Elena Rodríguez from DeTalleres, a Basque architect focused on the creative possibilities of books and illustrated albums. DeTalleres will facilitate the activity "Beyond the line," which includes three distinct sessions:
- 9 to 13 h: “Entrelíneas,” morning sessions specifically for school groups;
- 14 to 15 h: “Trazos de acción,” a technical workshop for library professionals;
- 17.30 to 19 h: “Creative scribbles,” a session for families wishing to explore creativity through books (prior registration required).
On Wednesday, 4 November, the festival will move to the Espacio Joven at the Pere Anguera Library. Starting at 17.30 h, there will be a "Drawing animals with coloured pencils" workshop aimed at a youth audience, led by Montsant Kanartt.
The final day of programming will take place on Saturday, 7 November, from 11 to 13 h, at the Xavier Amorós Library, featuring three simultaneous workshops allowing families to enjoy illustration in various forms. All Saturday activities will focus on creating a personal stamp or mark, reflecting this year's theme. The workshops include:
- “Design your exlibris/your fox mark,” led by Francesc Miguel;
- “From stroke to story,” led by Clara Margalef;
- “A world made of footprints,” led by El Cau del Cuquet.
Additionally, from 2 to 9 November, an exhibition of illustrations by Clara Margalef from the book “The man who spoke with dragons” by Jordi Folck will be on display in the central hall of the Xavier Amorós Library. All activities associated with the big draw festival at the municipal libraries of Reus are free and supported by the Diputación de Tarragona.
