Palau de la música de València launches chamber music cycle for 40th anniversary

The Palau de la Música de València has announced a new edition of its 'Cambra al Palau' chamber music cycle, marking its 40th anniversary. The cycle will feature 37 concerts, showcasing a range of musical styles from the Renaissance to contemporary works, beginning on 7 November 2026.

During a press conference, Vicente Llimerá, the director of the Palau, emphasised the importance of highlighting Valencian talent in this year's programming. He stated, "We wanted this edition to reflect the extraordinary nature of our 40th anniversary season and to support local musicians and groups."

Llimerá described 'Cambra al Palau' as one of the oldest cycles at the auditorium, taking place in a venue renowned for its acoustics and intimate atmosphere. He added, "We aim to make our programming accessible to the public, with symbolic prices to allow everyone to experience music up close and to facilitate access for various communities."

Nieves Pascual, the deputy director of music, highlighted the diversity of styles and periods represented in the cycle, which she described as a reflection of the Palau de la Música's commitment to inclusivity. This year, the cycle will also see collaborations with other entities, including the Festival 10 Sentidos and Acción Cultural Española.

The 'Cambra al Palau' programme includes 37 concerts, four more than last year, featuring international soloists, musicians from the Orquesta de València, and prominent Valencian groups. Concerts will take place in the Sala Rodrigo until 24 June 2027, with performances starting at 19:30, except for weekend concerts, which will begin at 19:00. Ticket prices range from €10 to €20, with a 50% discount available for seniors, students, large families, single-parent families, and long-term unemployed individuals.

The opening concert on 7 November will feature works by Manuel de Falla, performed by a group of talented musicians, including violinist Miguel Colom and cellist Fernando Arias. The cycle will also include notable performances such as a recital by violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann and pianist Dmytro Choni, focusing on Viennese musical traditions, and a programme by the New York-based Attacca Quartet.

Other highlights include a collaboration between trumpet virtuoso Allen Vizzutti and Spanish Brass, as well as performances by national artists like guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas and the Ensemble Modern, directed by Josep Planells. The Orquesta de València will play a significant role, showcasing various formations and collaborations with guest soloists.

The cycle will also feature contemporary works and the recovery of musical heritage, with programmes dedicated to Spanish composers and historical repertoire. The concert on 22 November will celebrate International Music Day with a tribute to Joaquín Rodrigo.

Overall, the 'Cambra al Palau' cycle promises a rich and varied musical experience, reinforcing the Palau de la Música's position as a cultural hub in València and a platform for both local and international talent.
