Oviedo's international videoclip festival returns for its seventh edition

The International Videoclip Festival of Oviedo, known as FIVO, is set to celebrate its seventh edition from 3 to 7 November, transforming the city into a hub for music, cinema, and audiovisual experimentation. The festival will feature a blend of videoclip screenings, educational activities, professional meetings, and musical performances, with a strong emphasis on youth and artistic creation from Asturias.

Established as a key event for the videoclip format, FIVO champions this medium as a unique artistic language that merges music, imagery, narrative, and experimentation. This year’s edition also reinforces its community dimension, offering activities aimed at making audiovisual creation accessible to diverse audiences and fostering exchanges between artists, filmmakers, students, and viewers.

Programme highlights

The festival will kick off on Tuesday, 3 November, with a workshop titled Drawing cinema, painting music, scheduled for 18:00 at the Asturian Youth Institute, in collaboration with Carné Joven Asturias. This session will include videoclips such as Barro en los pulmones by Enol Villamor for Drest, Mi nombre by Lucía Corte and Elena del Frade for Troya, Diseñando miedos by Álvaro Velasco for Mirlo & Velas, and The Azerbaijani Suicidal by Iker Gil for Monito Dinero, among others.

On Thursday, 5 November, the festival will broaden its perspective with a special session of the Milán Film Club: Iconic Videoclips, dedicated to landmark videoclips in history, at 18:00 on the Campus of El Milán at the University of Oviedo. At 19:30, the Matadero Bookshop will host the open podcast Behind the Hit, a roundtable discussion on the creative and technical processes involved in making videoclips.
