Olimpia López, the subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, participated in the presentation of the 48th edition of the Rally San Froilán, scheduled for 16 and 17 October. During her speech, she underscored the crucial coordination required to ensure safety during the event, which is expected to attract thousands of fans to the roads of the province.
López expressed her gratitude towards the Escudería Miño Lucense, the National Police, the Civil Guard, emergency services, and the volunteers involved in the organisation. She remarked,
“Behind the spectacle we will see on the asphalt, there is much more: preparation, coordination, and many people working to ensure that when the first car starts, everything is ready.”
The competition is part of the Galician Asphalt Rally Championship and will feature ten stages covering a total of 448.20 kilometres, of which 104.6 kilometres will be timed. The subdelegate mentioned the implementation of GPS tracking systems, SOS alerts, and electronic red flags to enhance safety.
López urged spectators to adhere to the instructions from the organisers and security forces, emphasising the importance of remaining in designated areas.
“Enjoying a rally also means knowing where we should be and where we cannot be,”she stated.
Additionally, she congratulated Dani Berdomás, who was crowned Galician champion in O Carballiño on 26 September, highlighting the dedication required to achieve sporting success.
