Lugo local government allocates €200,000 for educational maintenance and supports employment for people with disabilities

The local government of Lugo has taken significant steps to enhance public services and support those facing employment challenges. One of the key decisions made was the approval of a budget for the maintenance, conservation, and repair of municipal educational facilities, including primary schools and early childhood education centres.

The contract for this maintenance work is set at a base budget of €200,000, inclusive of VAT, and will have an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of extending it for an additional two years. The expenditure will be distributed as €50,000 for 2026 and €150,000 for 2027.

In a move to bolster social support, the government also approved a nominative grant of €3,000 to FADEMGA Plena Inclusión Galicia. This funding will support the Labour Information and Guidance Service (SIOL) and the Employment Support Service (SAE) aimed at individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities throughout 2026. This partnership will be formalised through a collaboration agreement with the city council.

Additionally, to improve tourist services, the government has extended the operating hours of the tourist information kiosk located in Plaza Mayor during the winter months. The kiosk will now be open from 10:00 to 18:00 from 15 October to 31 May, staffed by a member of the tourist information service. This change adds 1,832 hours of service annually and will incur an additional cost of €39,745.79, including VAT.

The local government also approved the procurement of a new 4x4 pickup truck equipped with a crane and elevating basket for rural electrical services. This vehicle will be newly manufactured and will include preventive maintenance and periodic inspections as part of the contract. The total authorised expenditure for this purchase is €104,998.96.

Furthermore, the first extension of the concession for the cafeteria-restaurant at CEI-Nodus was approved, allowing operations from 13 December 2026 to 12 December 2027, maintaining a monthly fee of €706, which translates to annual revenue of €8,472 for the city council.

In urban planning, the local government proposed granting a licence for the comprehensive restructuring of a building located at number 16, Calle del Progreso. The project, with a budget of €437,893.14, aims to create four residential units along with non-residential spaces and an office, subject to archaeological oversight.

Additionally, a correction was made to a previously granted licence for Luseryma S.L. to construct a building with 60 residential units on Calle Montirón. The amendment adjusted the licence to reflect the project's execution plans, which include 62 storage units instead of the originally stated 60, without altering any other approved conditions.
