The Centro de la Cultura del Rioja (CCR) will host a documentary series titled ‘Cuatro sábados, cuatro miradas sobre la danza’ during November, offering audiences an insight into the careers and creative worlds of four notable figures in the dance discipline.
This initiative, announced by the Councillor for Culture, Rosa Fernández, and the director of the Casa de la Danza, Perfecto Uriel, features four free events scheduled for Saturdays on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th of November at 19:30.
Each session will focus on a distinguished professional in the field:
- 7 November: ‘La amable euforia de la danza’ by Miguel Castañet Jr., portraying the life and work of Cuban dancer and choreographer Pedro Pablo Peña (1944-2018), who realised his dream of creating an international ballet festival in Miami.
- 14 November: ‘Ullate, la danza de la vida’ by Elena Cid, exploring the life and passion for dance of Víctor Ullate, one of Spain's most influential dancers, teachers, and choreographers.
- 21 November: ‘Pilar Rioja, danza española en México’, dedicated to Pilar Rioja, a prominent figure in international Spanish dance.
- 28 November: ‘La casa del alma’ by Pablo Croce, concluding the series with a documentary highlighting over a decade of artistic collaboration between guitarist and composer José Luis de la Paz and Venezuelan dancer and choreographer Siudy Garrido.
Rosa Fernández emphasised that “this series offers a wonderful opportunity to engage with dance from various perspectives, bringing to light the stories, influences, and experiences that shape these artists' creative universes.” She encouraged everyone to attend the screenings, reinforcing the CCR's commitment to being an inclusive space for diverse and high-quality cultural proposals for the people of Logroño and visitors alike.
