Crónicas de San Borondón interviews Carlos Jesús Pérez Simancas, author of Troya y la ira de Aquiles

The programme Crónicas de San Borondón, hosted by José Gregorio González on La Radio Canaria, will interview writer Carlos Jesús Pérez Simancas this Friday, 23 October, starting at 22:00. Pérez Simancas is the recipient of the XIV International Historical Dissemination Prize Juan Antonio Cebrián – Villa de Crevillent for his book Troya y la ira de Aquiles, in which he discusses how events from the Trojan War mirror the crises and conflicts faced today.

In his analysis, the author draws connections between the control of the Strait of Hormuz and the economic tensions among world powers. Pérez Simancas argues that The Iliad and The Odyssey by Homer illustrate the crises that arose among trading peoples, suggesting that the fall of Troy marked the end of the Bronze Age, leading into the Iron Age. He believes that the catastrophic events that concluded the Bronze Age have shaped the current Western world.

This Friday's programme will also delve into the realms of graphology and graphotherapy. Specialist Montse Perelló will explore the behavioural insights that can be gleaned from handwriting analysis, asserting that aspects such as pressure, slant, letter formation, and signatures reveal much about our identities.

In the segment El Gabinete del Curioseante, Ricardo Martín will examine the so-called Triangle of Bermuda in Transylvania, a wooded area in Romania that has become a reservoir of legends and mysteries. The Hoia Baciu Forest, located near the medieval city of Cluj-Napoca, has been linked to mysterious disappearances, including that of a shepherd and his flock, as well as other strange occurrences tied to UFOs and paranormal phenomena.

Additionally, the programme will take viewers on a journey through the cinematic universe of Star Trek with Manuel Díaz Noda, exploring its impact on contemporary culture. Star Trek is an American media franchise created by Gene Roddenberry, which began with the eponymous television series in 1966 and quickly evolved into a global phenomenon encompassing films, television series, video games, novels, and comics.
