Alice brennhausen: from management to art

After 27 years in the professional world, alice brennhausen has fulfilled a long-held dream. At the age of 60, she completed her career as a manager and moved to the Costa del Sol. Born near Hamburg in 1964, she now resides in La Cala de Mijas, where she has returned to painting with renewed dedication.

Brennhausen spent two years searching for the perfect location before falling in love with La Cala de Mijas. Her professional journey began with training as an optician, followed by a degree in Business Administration in Lüneburg and international experience in France and Ireland. She then worked for 27 years in the French-speaking part of Switzerland for a German optical chain, where she held various management responsibilities. Even during that time, she created abstract artworks, although she had very little time for her art.

Today, Spain and art have become the centre of her life. She has set up a small studio in Spain, where she creates large-format abstract works inspired by the light and landscapes of southern Spain. Her paintings feature vibrant colours, modelling paste, fabrics, and collage elements, giving them a large, three-dimensional and textured surface.
