The social centre on Calle Cifuentes hosted over 200 attendees for an afternoon filled with dancing, chocolate, and buñuelos, featuring live music from the Anaís quartet. This event took place on Sunday, 1 November, after being postponed due to official mourning days.
Guadalajara celebrated a new edition of the traditional Baile del Buñuelo, a social gathering aimed at the city's elderly population. Participants enjoyed a lively afternoon of music and camaraderie, centred around the traditions of All Saints' Day.
Organised by the City Council's Department for Seniors, the event was free of charge, with each attendee receiving an invitation for chocolate and two buñuelos. The Anaís quartet entertained the crowd with a repertoire of classic dance tunes.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, the celebration was moved to Sunday out of respect for the official mourning period declared following the train accident in Urda.
Eva Henche, the councillor for Seniors, emphasised that “the turnout for this event demonstrates our seniors' eagerness to continue enjoying life, socialising, and being active members of Guadalajara. They have much to contribute, and we are committed to providing leisure options that cater to their interests, even on weekends.”
Henche also highlighted the importance of maintaining gatherings that have become part of the city's seniors' calendar. “Our seniors remain a priority for the City Council. These celebrations offer an opportunity to spend time together, reconnect, and make new friends. During a time particularly associated with remembering those we have lost, we want to ensure they find spaces of companionship, closeness, and affection, where they feel heard and supported,” she stated.
