Sonia Alastruey, the coordinator of cha in huesca, has expressed concerns that the city is not fully capitalising on its tourism potential. She is advocating for a structured approach that includes measurable objectives and evaluation of results. In response, cha has presented a new initiative in the Cortes de Aragón, the regional parliament, aimed at boosting tourism in huesca through a non-legislative proposal introduced by Jorge Pueyo, the party's spokesperson in the Cortes.

The proposal calls on the Government of Aragón to collaborate with the huesca City Council, relevant administrations, and social and economic stakeholders to develop a specific strategy that would increase visitor numbers, enhance the city’s tourism positioning, and boost overnight stays.

Alastruey argues that huesca is squandering its rich heritage, culture, gastronomy, and natural beauty, leaving it at a disadvantage compared to other capitals. She stated, "It is not enough to promote isolated initiatives or carry out sporadic promotional actions: huesca needs a tourism plan with clear objectives, coordinated actions, and a strategy that turns visits into longer stays, economic activity, and opportunities for commerce and hospitality."

cha recalls that it previously submitted an initiative in October 2023 aimed at increasing tourist numbers in huesca, which was approved by the Commission of Environment and Tourism on 8 February 2024. However, over two years later, the situation has not improved, and recent data in the new proposal places huesca at the bottom among capitals in terms of tourist numbers.

According to cha, this trend highlights the need for institutional commitments to translate into concrete, assessable measures that can address the destination's weaknesses. Therefore, cha is demanding a specific plan for huesca, complete with an execution timeline, quantifiable indicators, and monitoring mechanisms to coordinate resources and actions among the various administrations and stakeholders involved.

Alastruey concluded, "huesca has the resources and arguments to attract visitors; what it needs is an ambitious and sustained strategy that moves away from improvisation and allows us to see what works and what results are achieved."
