Algeciras art school showcases talent in '19 lenses' exhibition

The mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, attended the opening of '19 lenses' on Monday, showcasing the work of second-year photography students from the Algeciras Art School. The exhibition is hosted in the 'Javier Muñoz' hall of the 'José Luis Cano' Documentary Centre and will be available for public viewing until 20 November, with free admission.

Landaluce emphasised the role of the Art School as a driving force for artistic creation in the region, highlighting the importance of providing young people with spaces to develop their skills and gain experience. He reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to supporting initiatives that foster training and allow emerging creators to showcase their work and progress in their careers, in collaboration with the Art School.

The exhibition's curator explained that '19 lenses' offers an exclusively female perspective on photography, featuring the works of nine students who reinterpret the contributions of women linked to the history of this art form. The project incorporates various techniques and photographic resources, showcasing the diversity of the students' proposals.

Exhibitions like this one contribute to enhancing the cultural life of the city and bring the community closer to the work being developed in classrooms. The collaboration between educational institutions and municipal spaces enables students to present their projects and continue their professional growth.
