The municipality of Antequera is undertaking repair and improvement works on the lighting system at the Estadio Municipal El Maulí. Mayor Manolo Barón visited the site on 16 October, accompanied by deputy mayors Juan Rosas and José Manuel Fernández.

The works are being carried out in preparation for the upcoming match between Antequera CF and Águilas FC, which is set to take place on Thursday, 29 October, as part of the first round of the Copa del Rey.

The project focuses on seven lighting projectors that have experienced various operational issues. Juan Carlos Morente, the municipal technical engineer overseeing the works, explained that the tasks involve identifying faults and replacing damaged components to restore the functionality of the affected lights. The works will continue on the remaining two towers to identify and resolve outstanding issues, with completion expected by early next week.

These repairs are being executed by the Antequera-based company Marpemac, contracted by the municipality for the necessary maintenance and repair tasks. During his visit, Mayor Barón highlighted that the aim of the intervention is to ensure adequate lighting conditions for the night match and to meet the technical requirements for its television broadcast.

The match between Antequera CF and Águilas FC from Murcia is anticipated to be an exciting event for local football fans, marking an important fixture in the Copa del Rey for the 2026/2027 season.
