The Provincial Council of Zamora has provisionally approved a resolution granting €2,347,316 for investments in sports and cultural infrastructure, as well as children's and health parks, for the year 2026. This funding is aimed at supporting local municipalities in enhancing and renewing their public spaces and facilities.
A total of 139 projects are included in this initiative, with an estimated overall investment of approximately €2.78 million, which encompasses contributions from local entities. The proposed provincial funding of €2,347,316 will be supplemented by municipal contributions amounting to €433,488.63, bringing the total anticipated investment to €2,780,804.72.
The funding initiative originated from an initial budget of €1,820,000, allocated as follows: €840,000 for sports facilities, €540,000 for cultural facilities, and €440,000 for children's and health parks. Subsequently, an additional credit supplement of €546,000 was approved, increasing the total funding available to €2,366,000.
The selection of projects has been carried out according to established criteria, which include the creation or renovation of facilities, energy efficiency, accessibility, and, in the case of sports projects, their use by local sports clubs. The characteristics of the municipalities, such as population size, geographical dispersion, and equity, were also taken into account. Furthermore, the guidelines include tie-breaking criteria based on the number of annexes and the population of the municipalities.
This provisional resolution allows for a ten-day period for objections to be submitted. Following this period, a definitive resolution will determine the final grants awarded. Beneficiaries will be required to formally accept the aid within the timeframe specified in the procedure.
The resolution has been published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Zamora on 23 October 2026. The planned projects will enable municipalities to undertake repairs, renovations, and improvements to sports and cultural facilities, as well as children's and health parks, contributing to the modernisation of public amenities and enhancing the services provided to residents.
