Tourism board launches six new cycling routes in Terres de Lleida

The Lleida Provincial Tourism Board has announced the launch of six new gravel cycling routes in Terres de Lleida, aiming to position the six regions—Segrià, Garrigues, Noguera, Pla d’Urgell, Urgell, and Segarra—as a premier destination for this cycling discipline.

Juli Alegre, the director of the Tourism Board, stated, “Terres de Lleida offers optimal conditions for gravel cycling: an extensive network of rural paths, forest tracks, and low-traffic secondary roads, alongside a diverse landscape ranging from dry fields to natural river spaces and historic stone structures.” He also noted that “gravel cycling has seen substantial growth in recent years within the cycling tourism sector.”

Alegre emphasised that this discipline attracts both specialised audiences and new users seeking sustainable experiences in nature.

The six routes, developed in collaboration with the regional councils of Terres de Lleida, are now available for consultation on the Tourism Board's cycling website. They are organised into three loops, each with three starting and finishing points: Borges Blanques for routes through Garrigues and Segrià; Estany de Ivars and Vila-sana for those in Pla d’Urgell and Urgell; and Ponts for the Noguera and Segarra routes.

As part of this initiative, the Tourism Board and the Catalan Tourism Agency (ACT) have organised a press trip for two journalists from the Italian cycling publication 4ActionSport. This action marks the first promotional effort for the six new routes in Terres de Lleida and is linked to the Grand Tour de Catalunya Gravel event. Participants will explore sections of the routes in Noguera and Segarra this week, while also discovering the heritage of these regions, as well as that of Pallars Jussà and Solsonès.

  • Gravel north: Noguera
  • Gravel north: Segarra
  • Gravel centre: Pla d’Urgell
