Figueres enjoys successful mostra del vi de l’empordà and fòrum gastronòmic ciutat

Figueres has celebrated the 40th mostra del vi de l’empordà alongside the fòrum gastronòmic ciutat, attracting over 7,500 visitors. The event saw a full house for demonstration sessions and the sale of more than 15,000 food tastings.

During the mostra, 21,000 individual wine tickets were sold, and the 4,000 special edition glasses commemorating the 40th anniversary were quickly sold out. This year’s new feature, the Bar à Vins, offered tastings of 25 different wines from the DO Empordà, a designation of origin that signifies quality wines from the region.

The joint celebration received a positive response from the public and participants, confirming the success of merging the two events into a single gastronomic experience in the heart of Figueres. The increase in participating wineries, the popularity of the Bar à Vins, and high attendance at various scheduled activities contributed to the positive assessment from both organisers and attendees.

Demonstration sessions at the fòrum registered full attendance, with over 15,000 food tastings sold, indicating strong public engagement. The Bar à Vins was a key highlight, showcasing 25 wines from the DO Empordà. The special glasses produced for the 40th anniversary featured four phrases from Eduard Puig Vayreda, a notable figure in the local wine culture, and were produced in limited quantities of 1,000 each.

The event took place along the Rambla, which hosted food stalls, wineries, and the Bar à Vins, while the Museu del Joguet de Catalunya accommodated the activities of the fòrum that had to be postponed due to weather conditions. This combination allowed the event to maintain its festive spirit and continue both the wine and gastronomic programming.

The reprogrammed sessions received particularly positive feedback, with full attendance across all activities held at the museum. The programme included tastings of premium cheeses from Girona, chocolate with a local twist, and wine sessions featuring various culinary pairings.

The 40th mostra del vi has revitalised the city centre, drawing crowds to the DO Empordà wineries and gastronomic offerings. The successful integration of the fòrum gastronòmic ciutat and the mostra del vi de l’empordà has proven to be an effective formula, enhancing the visitor experience through shared activities and tastings.

Despite initial weather-related disruptions, the continued interest from the public demonstrates the resilience of this model, which is set to expand in the coming years, further establishing Figueres as a hub for gastronomy and wine from the Empordà region.
