The Fira de Sant Lluc in Olot is set to take place this weekend, on 17 and 18 October, with several activities being moved to indoor venues in response to weather forecasts predicting moderate rain on Saturday afternoon.
Following advice from Civil Protection and an analysis of the weather outlook, the Olot City Council has decided to proceed with the fair while relocating some events to covered locations such as the Torín and the Espai Cràter.
Regardless of the weather, the Sala Torín will host children's and family games (Tastajocs), originally scheduled for the main square, along with various workshops at the Firal, including ‘Fem un hort’, ‘Herbes Remeieres’, and ‘Fes el teu xaiet de llana’. In the event of rain, the Espai Cràter will accommodate food tastings and activities from the Espai Tast, with the final decision on the relocation of these activities depending on the evolving weather conditions.
One event, the educational workshop at the Grangeta del Gall Zoti in the plaza de l’U d’Octubre, has been cancelled due to the inability to relocate it. However, the energetic spinning session will be moved to the Gimnasio Espai, and the Sunday morning sports activity in the plaza del Mig will also be subject to weather developments.
Other events, including the Fira del Dibuix, the Fira Ramadera, and the Cursa de Sant Lluc, will proceed as planned. The 71st Fira del Dibuix will take place under the arches of the plaza Clarà, while the Fira Ramadera will be held in the Firal Petit under a large tent. The inaugural Book Music Festival at the Hospicio and the new Fòrum Sant Lluc, focused on agriculture at the Comarcal Archive, will also continue as scheduled.
All other markets and fairs will remain active throughout the weekend, and the Cursa de Sant Lluc will kick off on Sunday morning at 9:15 am with various categories. Activities such as the MAG tractor parade, the dance of the Pig and the Lamb, and the Xerrics’ casteller day will also take place, contingent on weather conditions.
Any changes to the schedule will be communicated through the official channels of the fair, including the Olot City Council's website and social media profiles. Throughout the weekend, museums in the city will offer free admission.
