Santa Cruz de Tenerife unveils cultural and leisure agenda for the weekend

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is set to host a vibrant weekend filled with live music, theatre, cinema, family-friendly activities, youth events, and exhibitions across the municipality's cultural spaces.

Family activities will be particularly concentrated on Saturday at the Chimisay Park in Ofra, where 'Ofra en Familia' will take place from 11:00 to 19:00. The event will feature two theatrical performances, 'Detective de cuentos' and 'El rey solitario', alongside inflatable attractions, a games circuit, and children's workshops. Storytelling sessions and a baby area will also be available, complemented by a relaxation zone offering food options.

Musically, the Palmetum will host the Tenerife Peñón Fest 2026 on Friday and Saturday. The Friday line-up includes artists such as Loquillo, Pignoise, Maika Makovski, Postcode, and Biznaga, while Saturday's performances will feature Amaia, Melifluo, La La Love You, Carlos Sadness, and San Tosielo. Additional concerts include a performance by Hydra 2.0 at La Movie Social Club, a flamenco recital by Christian Saucedo and Juan Miguel Castellano at Café Picú, and a session by Salvita Cane at En Crudo.

The performing arts will also be well represented in various venues across the capital. Espacio La Granja will present 'Flores. ¿A qué suena la naturaleza?', a sensory experience for babies aged 1 to 4 that combines dance, music, singing, and opera, as well as 'La rebelión de las parias'. At La Salita in the Auditorio de Tenerife, audiences can enjoy 'El brote' by the Compañía Criolla, while the Teatro Victoria will host a double bill of dance performances, 'Filia et Fobia' and 'La Mort', by the La Taimada company.

The film programme at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes and the activity 'El invencible verano de Liliana' at the Espacio Cultural CajaCanarias will further enrich the cultural offering. Municipal libraries will also maintain their programming for various audiences. The José Saramago Library in Añaza will host a motivational talk by Javier Rosquete for students from CEIP Los Menceyes, alongside a regular breastfeeding workshop. In the afternoon, the Central Municipal Library will present 'Chiquitines go Rock' with Ana Tovar and Verónica Acosta, while the Federico García Lorca Library in Ofra will organise 'La fábrica de cuentos', a participatory session with Carlos Baute where families can create stories using characters, cards, and dice.

Additionally, the Oya Team club will celebrate its fifteenth boxing gala on Saturday at 18:30 in the Pancho Camurria pavilion, featuring a derby between fighters from Tenerife and Gran Canaria. The event will showcase 12 bouts and some of the leading prospects in Canary boxing, under the guidance of trainer Yeray Silvera.

The weekend's cultural offerings are rounded out by various exhibitions across Santa Cruz's cultural spaces. The Los Lavaderos Art Gallery presents 'Enlutados', an exhibition on traditional mourning attire linked to the Finados programming and customs related to remembrance and Canary folk traditions, running until 31 October. The Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) will host 'Concomitancias. Legados, presencia y futuros indígenas en México y Canarias' until 1 November, exploring historical connections and tensions between the two territories. The Government of the Canary Islands' Contemporary Art Gallery will feature 'Melancolía, el pasado por venir' until 6 November, a collective exhibition reflecting on the past and future uncertainties. The Bibli Gallery will showcase 'Bajarse las bragas' by Juana Fortuny until 13 November, a sculptural proposal questioning the relationship between the body, clothing, and art. The Desván Blanco Cultural Space will exhibit 'Paisajes oníricos', a painting exhibition by Juan Guerra, also until 13 November. Finally, TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes will present 'Cho Juaá: humor colectivo' until 22 November, dedicated to the work of Eduardo Millares Sall and his contributions to avant-garde caricature in the Canary Islands. The Masonic Temple of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will offer guided and self-guided tours from Tuesday to Sunday, allowing the public to explore this historic building following its rehabilitation.
