Starting tomorrow, 15 October, the Madrid city council, through the Department of Works and Equipment, will commence refurbishment works on the Artemisa bridge spanning the M-11 motorway in the Barajas district. This structure connects Artemisa Street with Balcánica and Bellaterra Streets, facilitating access between the historic centre of Barajas and the southern areas of the district.
The planned works will involve the replacement of the vehicle containment system, complete waterproofing of the deck, renewal of expansion joints, upgrading the drainage system, and resurfacing both the sidewalks and the roadway. As a result of the works, there will be a complete closure of the roadway over the bridge, and alternative routes have been designated towards the roundabout of the Ermita de la Virgen de la Soledad, located on the M-11, to allow vehicles to access the neighbourhoods connected by the structure.
For the works taking place beneath the deck, temporary lane closures will be implemented on the M-11. The refurbishment is expected to continue until the first quarter of 2027, with a budget of €316,000.
