The local government has approved works to repair the exterior fencing of the La Granja sports centre, aimed at improving the conservation, safety, and appearance of these municipal sports facilities, while ensuring compliance with current regulations.
The project will address necessary repairs around the entire perimeter of the sports complex, including the restoration of elements deteriorated by use and time, as well as the application of specific treatments to enhance protection and extend their lifespan.
Specifically, the works will include a thorough cleaning of the fencing, repairs to damaged areas of the concrete wall, and the refurbishment of metal doors and fences. Any components found to be in poor condition will be replaced, and hinges, locks, and other mechanisms will be inspected to ensure proper functionality.
Additionally, special treatments will be applied to protect the concrete surfaces from deterioration caused by time and lack of maintenance, and rust will be removed from metal structures, which will receive a new layer of anti-corrosive protection and exterior paint.
The Sports Delegate, Tomás Sampalo, emphasised the importance of this intervention, stating, “Maintaining sports facilities is essential to restore their functionality and ensure they continue to provide good service to the clubs, athletes, and users who regularly utilise them.”
He added, “With this action, we aim to improve both the safety of the fencing and the overall image of the La Granja complex, advancing our goal of offering increasingly well-maintained sports facilities that meet the needs of citizens.”
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the local government to enhance various sports facilities across the city. Earlier this year, the lighting of football field 1 at La Granja was modernised with the installation of twelve LED floodlights, improving visibility and energy efficiency.
Furthermore, plans are in place for new LED lighting for the Manuel Millán, Picadueñas, La Canaleja, and La Granja 2 fields. Work is also underway to contract this lighting system for the San Telmo facilities, aiming to complete the LED lighting renewal across all grassroots football fields in the city.
Additionally, the local government is executing extensive renovations at the Kiko Narváez Sports Pavilion to address humidity issues and improve facility conditions, alongside modernisation works for the irrigation system at the Pedro S. Garrido stadium.
