Jerez prepares for a festive Halloween 2026 with family-friendly activities

The Ayuntamiento de Jerez, in collaboration with Acoje, the local merchants' association, has unveiled an extensive programme for Halloween 2026, featuring activities suitable for all ages, including parades, music, gastronomy, and horror-themed events.

The main events will take place on 30 and 31 October, with family-oriented initiatives in the streets, cultural activities, and events at the Plaza del Arenal and the Zoobotánico de Jerez. Additionally, activities will commence this weekend, specifically on Sunday, 25 October, aimed at promoting local commerce and celebrating the city’s designation as the 2026 Spanish Capital of Gastronomy.

During the announcement, key figures such as Jaime Espinar, Deputy Mayor for Public Services Coordination; Nela García, Delegate for Commerce and Consumer Affairs; Carmen Pina, Delegate for Citizen Participation and Youth; Francisco Zurita, Delegate for Culture and Festivals; and Alberto de la Villa from Acoje highlighted the collaboration between the city council and local businesses to create an attractive programme that fosters community spirit and boosts economic activity.

“We want children, young people, and families to find alternatives to have fun, share moments, and enjoy our streets, while also contributing to the dynamism of Jerez's commerce,” said Espinar.

Espinar also expressed gratitude towards Acoje for its commitment to the city, stating that while Halloween is celebrated worldwide, Jerez aims to embrace the festivities in its own unique way, especially in a year that highlights its culinary heritage.

Nela García elaborated on the programme, which includes a special focus on the city’s gastronomic recognition. Various stalls will showcase seasonal products, including traditional chestnuts and autumn fruits, with participation from local producers and merchants.

Carmen Pina presented activities organised by different municipal departments, including a musical show titled “El Club de los Villanos” on 25 October, with additional performances on 29 and 31 October. A horror-themed attraction, “El callejón del último grito,” will also be set up in the Plaza del Arenal on 30 and 31 October.

The Zoobotánico de Jerez will host special activities on 1 November, including a spooky welcome, a horror passage, human foosball, mystery talks, and enchanting magic shows, designed to provide a unique experience for visitors.

One of the highlights will be a themed parade on 31 October at 19:00, which will traverse various parts of Jerez and culminate in the Plaza del Arenal, filling the city centre with music and Halloween characters. Additionally, the Municipal Band will perform a concert at 18:00 on the same day, featuring pieces suitable for families and children.

Acoje will also organise activities on 30 October, including tastings of traditional sweets, musical entertainment, a costume contest, and a candy route through participating shops. The day will feature a DJ to enhance the festive atmosphere, along with face painting for children.

Shops will be decorated to create a Halloween ambience throughout the commercial streets, inviting families to join in the celebrations.
