The Kursaal theatre in Manresa will host two performances of the play 'The Last Atom' this weekend, on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October. The show, written and directed by Jordi Oriol, presents two contrasting worldviews, intertwining science and language while exploring humanity's need to create fictions as an escape from reality.
In the play, uncertainty permeates humanity. As senior government advisors impose an ultimatum to address the crisis, a couple grapples with the disappearance of their daughter and the loss of the grandmother's language. The narrative raises the question of whether that which is unnamed ceases to exist, while also pondering if mentioning something brings it into being.
Joan Carreras leads the cast, which also includes Mia Esteve, Paula Malia, Carles Pedragosa, and features a special collaboration from Lara Segur. Tickets for 'The Last Atom' are priced at €28, with discounts available for seniors over 65 (€26) and for those under 30 (€6). Tickets can be purchased at the Kursaal box office or online at www.kursaal.cat.
