Chef and communicator Jordi Morera, renowned for hosting the culinary programme 'La Cuina de Morera' on À Punt, will serve as a juror for the fourth edition of the professional category of the coca de fira competition in ontinyent. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November, at 19:30 at the Museu del Tèxtil and aims to highlight the most representative product of ontinyent's gastronomy.
Joining Morera on the jury will be Santi Prieto, chef of the restaurant 'La Cuina' and known for his leadership at the Michelin-starred restaurant Sents; Gonzalo Pertusa, baker and founder of 'Mòlt Obrador de Pa', an artisan bakery located in Valencia; and Antonio García from the restaurant Stop 2 in ontinyent, who was the winner of the previous edition.
Àngels Muñoz, the councillor for fairs, festivals and traditions, emphasised that “having a jury of this calibre ensures the quality of the competition. It is also important to remember that audience members will have the opportunity to taste products from ontinyent and enter to win a dinner at the winning establishment.”
The event will be hosted by Miguel Coll, director and presenter of the 'Hoy por Hoy la Vall d'Albaida' programme on Radio Ontinyent Cadena SER, who will guide the proceedings of the competition.
This year's professional category will feature a total of €1,000 in prizes: €800 for the best traditional coca and a €200 special prize for the most outstanding innovative proposal. The dishes will be evaluated through a blind tasting, allowing the jury to score them without knowing the identities of the participating establishments. Furthermore, the winner will gain prominent recognition during the Fira de Novembre and will join the jury for the amateur category, which will take place on Monday, 16 November, starting at 12:00 in the parking lot of the Sala Gomis.
