The Group Espiga has announced the 12th edition of the charity race 'Con otra mirada' during a presentation at the Sagunto Town Hall. This event, supported by the Department of Physical Activity, Health and Sports, is scheduled for Saturday, 7 November, starting at 17:00 from Plaza Cronista Chabret.
The race will include two competitive categories, 5K and 10K, as well as a collaborative option known as Fila Cero. Proceeds from the event will be distributed equally, with 25% allocated to the Christmas Toy Campaign, 25% to Cáritas of the parish of Santa María, 25% to the Casa Nueva Association in Sagunto, and 25% for volunteer training at Group Espiga.
Awards will be presented solely for the 10K race, recognising the top three finishers in the categories of Promises (ages 14 to 23), Senior (ages 24 to 35), and Veterans (over 35), along with the first three men, women, and clubs overall.
The association aims to engage the Sagunto community in social volunteer projects through financial contributions from race registrations and to encourage active participation in volunteer programmes. The event's presentation featured Javier Timón, the councillor for Physical Activity, Health and Sports, and Laura Losa, a volunteer with Group Espiga.
Timón emphasised the shared goal of the administration and Group Espiga to promote physical activity, which he described as essential for health and keeping citizens active. He commended the association for its charitable efforts, noting that the 25% distribution of all race proceeds will benefit many groups.
