Invat·tur highlights innovation in tourism at TIS Sevilla 2026

The Valencian Institute of Tourist Technologies (INVAT·TUR) has participated in the Tourism Innovation Summit (TIS) Sevilla 2026, a key professional event dedicated to innovation and technological transformation in the tourism sector.

Jordi Bataller Mompó, director of INVAT·TUR and head of Tourist Intelligence and Innovation at Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, spoke during the session titled The new digital infrastructure for tourist destinations. This discussion centred on how data, information systems, and new technologies are reshaping the understanding, planning, and management of tourist destinations.

Bataller emphasised the need for a tourism management model that incorporates technological innovation, data-driven knowledge, and cooperation among various stakeholders. The goal is to enhance destinations' ability to interpret tourism activity trends, anticipate changes, and base decisions on reliable information.

He noted that digital transformation must extend beyond merely adopting new tools. Technology gains true value when it addresses specific needs, facilitates planning, enables outcome evaluation, and enhances both tourism management and regional competitiveness.

Tourist intelligence and advanced data analysis present new opportunities to understand visitor behaviour, study markets, relate different tourism activity variables, and identify trends and opportunities. Furthermore, advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning are opening new avenues for improving destinations' analytical and anticipatory capabilities.

Technological innovation and governance for smarter tourism

The session also addressed the challenges associated with implementing new digital infrastructures in destinations. Key issues include ensuring information quality, promoting system interoperability, establishing priorities, and ensuring that technological solutions yield beneficial outcomes for management.

In this context, institutional cooperation and knowledge transfer are essential for advancing evidence-based tourism governance models. Collaboration among administrations, businesses, and destinations allows for the sharing of experiences, better resource utilisation, and the dissemination of innovative solutions tailored to diverse capacities and needs.

From this perspective, digital transformation should also equip municipalities with the necessary tools and knowledge to tackle their management challenges, enhancing decision-making capabilities and promoting balanced and sustainable tourism development.

INVAT·TUR's participation in TIS Sevilla aligns with its mission to foster innovation, tourist intelligence, and digital transformation in the Comunitat Valenciana, as well as its commitment to bridging knowledge, technology, and management in destination development.

Comunitat Valenciana at the forefront of tourism innovation discussions

The regional secretary for tourism also attended TIS Sevilla, further strengthening the presence of Turisme Comunitat Valenciana in this forum for exchanging experiences and knowledge about the sector's main challenges. Participation in the event allows for sharing the Comunitat Valenciana's experiences with other regions and professionals, learning about technological trends, and exploring collaboration opportunities in strategic areas for the future of tourism.

Through this engagement, INVAT·TUR reaffirms its role as a tool for Turisme Comunitat Valenciana to drive tourism innovation, promote the practical application of new technologies, and help destinations move towards smarter, more efficient, and sustainable management models.
