The 14th National Meeting of Design Associations (14ENAD), organised by the Association of Designers of Extremadura (DIEX) and the Spanish Network of Design Associations (READ), will take place from 22 to 24 October at the Cultural Centre Alcazaba in Mérida. This event aims to gather professionals, associations, institutions, and companies from the design sector to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of contemporary design.
Antonio Vélez, the cultural delegate, emphasised the importance of showcasing initiatives that connect culture with creativity and economic development. Under the theme “Peripheries and Sustainability”, this edition will focus on the potential of design to foster culture and innovation from regions distant from major economic centres.
Silvia González, president of READ, highlighted that Extremadura is home to talented professionals and companies that are exporting design and creativity beyond their borders. The meeting will feature working groups discussing best practices in design contracting and the sector.
The 14ENAD will address topics such as territorial cohesion, the relationship between tradition and modernity, and the sustainability of creative processes. This event seeks to position Mérida and Extremadura as key players in the exchange of knowledge and creativity, demonstrating that innovative proposals can emerge outside major urban hubs.
Over the years, the National Meeting of Design Associations has established itself as a crucial platform for connection and reflection within the Spanish design ecosystem, reinforcing the commitment to collaboration between regions and the importance of associations.
