Hoyo de Manzanares launches ninth edition of noviembre visigodo

From 6 to 29 November, Hoyo de Manzanares will once again open the doors to its Visigoth village, marking the start of the ninth edition of noviembre visigodo. This cultural initiative aims to highlight the heritage, history, and local identity of the municipality.

The archaeological site of La Cabilda will serve as the backdrop for over three weeks of cultural and leisure activities designed for families and visitors of all ages. The comprehensive programme combines history, nature, leisure, and gastronomy.

Local restaurateurs will once again contribute Visigoth-inspired culinary offerings, alongside participation from Hoyo de Manzanares' shops and artisans. The event was presented on 28 October at La Cabilda, with the mayor, Victoria Barderas, and the tourism councillor, Rocío Cabrera, in attendance, as well as mayors and councillors from various parts of Madrid.

During the event, local businesses showcased their contributions, including La Huella del Bosque, which displayed a collection of jewellery inspired by the archaeological site, and the restaurant La Camioneta Comecampo, which offered a tasting of Visigoth tapas.

“We have made La Cabilda much more than just an archaeological site: it is a project that energises the social and business fabric of Hoyo de Manzanares and attracts local tourism. Since 2018, noviembre visigodo has evolved while maintaining its essence, valuing our heritage through three fundamental dimensions: cultural, tourist, and local development,”

said Mayor Victoria Barderas during the presentation.

This year's programme includes historical reenactments and guided tours of the archaeological site, a conference on Visigoth and emirate settlements in the Sierra de Guadarrama, children's and craft workshops, and a falconry show. The initiative will also feature gastronomic days involving local hospitality establishments, shops, and artisans, blending history, culture, gastronomy, and municipal promotion.

“When we talk about local development, we are not just referring to attracting visitors for a few weeks. We are talking about creating opportunities for our businesses to gain visibility, encouraging people to discover our offerings, generating new connections between companies, and reinforcing the image of Hoyo de Manzanares as a municipality with its own resources and a distinct identity,”

emphasised Tourism Councillor Rocío Cabrera.

This edition includes participation from eight local hospitality establishments: La Camioneta de Comecampo, El Chaqueta, El Cerrillo de Hoyo, La Cocina de Barro, Los Cumpas Mirador, El Michelín Estrellado, Los Picazos, and El Vagón de Beni. Their culinary offerings feature dishes and tapas inspired by Visigoth themes, using local and seasonal products such as mushrooms, legumes, game, and autumn fruits.

In addition to the hospitality sector, local shops, artisans, and businesses such as La Librería de Hoyo, Aula Apícola Sierra de Hoyo, Mercería Mamafina, Workshopía, Espacio Creativo, and Central de Reservas Sierra de Guadarrama will also participate. Through workshops, artisanal products, and tourist experiences, they contribute to showcasing the heritage of La Cabilda and the cultural, commercial, and tourist richness of Hoyo de Manzanares.
