Costa Blanca strengthens its position as an international audiovisual hub in Valladolid

The Diputación de Alicante, in collaboration with the Provincial Tourism Board and the Costa Blanca Film Commission, is reinforcing its strategic commitment to the film and television industry. Following its recent involvement in the Ibero-American market Iberseries & Platino Industria, the institution is advancing its roadmap to position the region as an international audiovisual location at the fifth edition of the 'Shooting Locations Marketplace', taking place from 14 to 16 October at the Feria de Valladolid.

This initiative, outlined in the Operational Plan #NPCB2026 approved by the provincial governing council, aims to continue the audiovisual promotion efforts initiated in Madrid, once again placing Costa Blanca at the centre of decision-making for both national and international sectors, according to José Mancebo, director of the Diputación de Alicante's tourism body.

The Valladolid forum is recognised as one of the most effective business platforms, directly connecting location managers, international production companies, and scouts through scheduled work agendas. Mancebo noted that this marks the fourth time Costa Blanca has participated in this professional gathering.

As in previous editions, the Alicante delegation arrives with a packed agenda of business-to-business (B2B) meetings, allowing them to tailor the province's coastal, natural, and urban location catalogue to the specific technical and creative requirements of major film and television productions.

Among the more than 60 accredited international firms and professionals at the event, the Costa Blanca Film Commission will focus its B2B meetings on production executives, tax incentive managers, and location managers from industry giants such as Marvel Studios, The Walt Disney Studios/Disney+, NBCUniversal, HBO/Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix, Sony Pictures Television, 20th Century Studios, Universal Pictures, and ITV Studios, as well as notable Spanish audiovisual producers like Atresmedia Cine and Mandarina Producciones.

Mancebo emphasised that attracting film shoots to the province of Alicante goes beyond mere cinematic interests, serving as a significant driver of economic and promotional development for local municipalities. The economic impact of this industry is direct and generates employment, with the arrival of audiovisual productions leading to immediate spending in the municipalities where filming occurs, benefiting the hospitality, commerce, transport, and local services sectors, while also encouraging the hiring of local professionals and businesses.

Moreover, the global exposure of Alicante's landscapes in films and television series enhances the destination's visibility in strategic markets, fostering the creation of tourist routes and attracting visitors eager to explore the locations of their favourite shows. Finally, the coexistence with large-scale shoots promotes the professionalisation of the local technical workforce, attracts investments in equipment and infrastructure, and nurtures regional creative talent.
