Galicia's Minister of Housing, María Martínez Allegue, met with a property owner in Vigo who is renovating a vacant home with Xunta support to make it available for affordable rental.
On October 8, 2026, María Martínez Allegue, the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Planning for Galicia, held a meeting in Vigo with a property owner who is renovating a vacant home with assistance from the Xunta de Galicia. The aim is to subsequently place the property on the rental market at an affordable price.
This initiative is part of the Fogar Vivo program, launched by the Galician government in 2025. The program is designed to enable property owners to rehabilitate homes that have often been unoccupied for extended periods, with the commitment to rent them out afterward. Additionally, the program includes support for rental insurance and multi-risk home insurance.
