The Alicante City Council has approved a provisional resolution for the allocation of grants to non-profit associations and entities aimed at developing social welfare projects. A total of €340,000 will be distributed among 56 projects across various sectors.
Begoña León, the Councillor for Social Welfare, emphasised the crucial role that these non-profit organisations play in different areas. She stated that through these grants, the local government is supporting initiatives that complement municipal work and provide services to individuals and families at risk of exclusion, as well as to the elderly and dependent individuals.
The maximum grant per project is set at €10,000, covering up to 80% of the total programme costs. The funding is specifically aimed at entities with social action programmes based in Alicante, which are working on projects within six designated lines:
- The line for functional diversity and dependent persons receives €133,703 for 20 projects.
- Support for situations of vulnerability, social exclusion, and labour integration is allocated €95,390 for 15 projects.
- Assistance for homeless individuals is granted €9,723 for two projects.
- Support and volunteering for the elderly is funded with €16,900 for four projects.
- Family mediation and support for minors receive €60,028 for 11 projects.
- Community integration for individuals with addiction disorders and their families is allocated €24,252 for four projects.
