Abycine Lanza plays a vital role in Spanish cinema, says Albacete deputy

The Diputación de Albacete has highlighted the "key importance" of Abycine Lanza for the Spanish film industry. During the official opening of this independent film market, part of the International Film Festival of Albacete, cultural deputy Miguel Zamora underscored Abycine Lanza's ability to promote projects, connect talent, and create new opportunities within the independent cinema sector.

Speaking at the event, Zamora welcomed all participants to the province and expressed gratitude for the efforts of the organising team, particularly acknowledging José Manuel Zamora. He noted that the festival has established itself as a national reference point and expanded its reach through initiatives that support independent filmmaking in Spain.

“It is a project of national significance and beyond, and a key element for our country's film industry,”

the deputy stated, emphasising that Abycine Lanza serves as a launchpad for projects, enhancing their visibility and connecting them with real opportunities. He also highlighted its contribution to enriching collective culture by introducing new ways to narrate and understand the world.

Zamora praised the history of Abycine Lanza and the achievements of productions that have emerged from this platform, many of which have gained recognition at festivals and among audiences. He remarked, "The positive data supports this festival," attributing its success to the dedicated team behind the project, as well as the courage and commitment of screenwriters, directors, and producers who champion new stories and perspectives in cinema.

He also acknowledged the institutional support at all levels, with the presence of Camilo Vázquez from the Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA), and the collaboration of various local entities and businesses that have consistently backed this event, which is regarded as one of the most significant in the independent film landscape nationally.

Zamora reaffirmed the Diputación's commitment to Abycine Lanza, noting its national projection and the positive feedback the festival receives beyond the province, which he believes should instil pride and motivate continued collaboration.

“The greatness and talent of Spanish cinema is becoming increasingly recognised,”

Zamora stated. He noted that more prominent figures from the industry are attending, and that emerging talent is crucial for the present and future of cinema. He reiterated the provincial institution's support for Abycine Lanza and the importance of independent cinema in contemporary society.

“Circumstances may change, but we must always recognise the greatness and talent we possess as a country in the film industry,”

he concluded, advocating for the continued creation of culture and cinema in freedom, reflecting the talent present in Spain, which is showcased at festivals like Abycine Lanza.

New associations introduced

During the event, three associations related to the film industry and the region were also presented. These include the Asociación de Mujeres Cineastas y de Medios Audiovisuales de C-LM (CIMA), the regional delegation of the Coordinadora del Cortometraje Español, and the Asociación Unida de Profesionales del Audiovisual y el Cine en Castilla-La Mancha (AUPA Cine C-LM). Zamora took the opportunity to congratulate the leaders of these organisations for their contributions to the region.
